We provide
The following is no more than a summary of the various services we provide to our employer/organisational clients who range from "small to medium sized businesses" through to national employers, local government, the health service and the ministry of defence.
Our commitment to Health & Safety
Employer Programmes
Using a combination of employer requirement and assessment against national occupational standards, employer programmes, each of which is designed around the client, have a number of real world advantages to business and organisational success, including;
- establishing and improving upon knowledge, understanding, competence, ability and performance in the job.
- creating tighter engagement between staff and their immediate line management.
- increasing confidence of participants who knowingly perform at least against national occupational standards as agreed between industry and professional bodies.
Our experience has illustrated significant business gains to the employer/sponsor in terms of managing staff and performance management.
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)
NVQs are vocational awards in England & Wales (In Scotland they are known as Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ)) that are achieved through assessment of individuals on the job, and measured against National Occupational Standards. They are practical or competence based qualifications based on being able to do the job.
For employers, there are significant advantages to work based training, assessment and awarding of these occupational qualifications over their academic equivalents.
There are five levels of award, ranging from Level 1, which focuses on basic work activities, to Level 5 for senior management. For further information on these National Qualifications Framework levels click here. (Summary opens in a new window)
Accredited certificates
Occupational qualifications such as NVQ's are built up of units, each of which covers a particular aspect of the job. These units are all based on National Occupational Standards.
Courses and workshops
We run a number of "Physical" courses and workshops each year, either at our own facilities near Dorchester, Dorset, or at client's premises, or occasionally at hotels or conference centres. The duration of these workshops will vary depending on the subjects and topics being covered. Some are half day, many are full day, and a few can last as long as a week.
In addition we have the means to deliver learning using E-learning and blended learning methods, with the advantages inherent in these methods.
What are the National Occupational Standards?
National Occupational Standards are statements of the skills, knowledge and understanding needed in employment and clearly define the outcomes of competent performance. They are developed by representatives of employment sectors on a UK-wide basis and inform vocational qualifications. Performance Criteria (PCs) are derived from these standards. It is against these benchmarks or criteria that organisations and individuals are measured against to determine levels (and therefore identify any shortfalls) of knowledge, understanding, skill, ability and performance. Such measurement or assessment is therefore very useful to organisations and individuals for gauging and implementing solutions in areas such as training, appraisal, recruitment and retention planning.
There are National Occupational Standards covering almost every occupation in the United Kingdom. Led by employers, the National Occupational Standards Board is an independent group whose remit is to set the strategy and oversee the funding of National Occupational Standards development.
